Wonderful Garden, Pool & a Hammock - What else do you need?

Bereits auf dem Weg vom ungefähr kleinsten Flughafen, den ich bisher gesehen hab, zu Puerto de Iguazú merkte ich, dass die Großstadt weit hinter mir liegt. Am Straßenrand wuchsen Pflanzen, die ich nur als Palmen im Wohnzimmer kannte und die Straßenschilder warnten vor  Tieren, die ich nicht identifizieren konnte.
Meine Unterkunft (Hostel Iguazú Falls) ließ auch keine Wünsche offen: großzügiger Garten, Pool und Hängematten zum entspannen.

Already on my way from the smallest airport I've ever seen to Puerto de Iguazú I came to realize that I left the big city life far far behind. On the side of the street I saw plants growing I only know as small palm trees for the living room and there were street signs warning about animals I couldn't identify. My hostel (Iguazú Falls Hostel) did not leave any wishes unattended either: a spacious garden, a pool and hammocks.

A Short Trip to Brazil

Die Iguazú Falls befinden sich genau an der Grenze von Argentinien, Brasilien und Paraguay und der Blick auf das Naturwunder soll von jeder Seite etwas anders sein. Also auf nach Brasilien! Nach einer halben Stunde Fahrt waren wir auch schon in Foz de Iguazú, den brasilianischen Teil des Parks. Hier kann ich auch wieder nur empfehlen,  US Dollar dabei zu haben. Die argentinischen Pesos sind fast nix wert. Nichtsdestotrotz hat es sich absolut gelohnt: ein kurzer Wanderweg entlang des Hangs mit Blick auf die Wasserfälle. Zur Krönung gab es die Diabolo Schlucht am Ende hautnah... sehr beeindruckend.

First Viewing Point in Brazil

The Iguazú Falls are located at the border of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. The view on the falls is supposed to be unique from each country. Thus, off to Brazil! After a bus ride of half an hour we arrived at Foz de Iguazu, the Brazilian side of the park. Again, I would strongly recommend to take US dollars, Argentine Pesos are worth nothing. Nevertheless, the trip as such was absolutely worth it: a short trail in the woods with a brillant view of the falls in total. To top it all off, there was a trail almost going into the diabolo fall which was very impressive.

Den Überblick über das Naturwunder hab ich mir nun verschafft, jetzt ist es Zeit, sie mal genauer zu betrachten. Die Busfahrt zum argentinischen Park war fast länger als zum brasilianischen, die Wanderwege auch... fast 5 Stunden sind wir über den Wasserfällen (so etwa 2m drüber) entlang gelaufen. Neben den unglaublichen Wassermassen gab es sonderbare Vögel und Schmetterlinge zu bewundern. Den absoluten Kick haben wir uns mit einer kurzen Bootsfahrt am Fuße zweier Wasserfälle geholt. Auf dem Weg zum Ufer ließen wir uns nicht von den klitschnassen Leuten, die uns entgegen kamen, abschrecken und stiegen ins Boot. War das ein Spaß - zwei Mal durch den Wasserfall und zurück! Die Abkühlung kam gerade recht.

Little Banana Bandit - Coati (Nasenbaer)

Now that I've had an overview of the falls as a whole, it was time to look at them in a little more detail. The bus ride to the Argentine side was almost a little bit longer than to the Brazilian... and the trails, too. We wandered above the falls (ca 2m above the water) for about 5 hours. Next to the fascinating amounts of water flowing beneath us, we spotted special birds and beautiful butterflies. To get a kick at the end of the tour we booked a short ride on a boat at the foot of two falls. We did not let the people passing - wet to their bones - aleniate us and entered the boat. We drove into the water falls twice and back again! That was so much fun and a refreshing shower was exactly what we needed at this point of time.
